Marginalia Education Portal is a website that collects education resources making these more available to everyone that is interested.

Everything on the website is made by students who want others to grasp the material presented more easily than they did – by sharing the way in which they would have wanted the material presented to them in the first place.

The website consists of

• Notes taken by students – in other words: How they understand the material best.

• Guides made by students in order to help the readers go through the same as they did more easily.

• Information useful to those who want to study abroad.

• A blog where different topics are discussed in order to gain new perspectives on the topics.

• Other resources that might be helpful – e.g. books, websites etc.

Marginalia is built upon a concept that includes a mission, a vision, values and objectives – read more below.

Mission

Living in a globalized world education is becoming increasingly important. The internet requires us to be more wary of what is correct and what is made up – to differentiate between correct and incorrect requires everyone to be critical about what they read and in order to be critical one needs education and knowledge. Education is vital and can ultimately bring peace and understanding to the world. 

Marginalia Education Portal believes that knowledge and education is not only reserved for those who are able to pay for it and that those who are able to pay for it has a duty to share knowledge. This should be done in such a way that everyone – even those without a degree – is able to understand and thus learn.

Consequently, it is Marginalia Education Portal's mission to make knowledge available to everyone in such a way that everyone is able to understand and interpret it. 

​

It is also the mission to help students understand what they are trying to learn more easily. Since this website builds upon symmetric communication rather than assymetric communication.

Vision

Everything that published on Marginalia Education Portal is based upon three points:

1. Marginalia

3. Community

Marginalia are the notes written in the margins of a text. To students these notes are important because they write them in order for them to understant the text better. This means that what is written on this website is written how students would have wanted the material presented – this will hopefully make the the material more understandable helping both students and others.

But notes can often be confusing and not coherent. Therefore everything is looked through, corrected and rewritten if needed. The guideline for doing this is a quote by Albert Einstein: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler". Though it is not know what Mr. Einstein meant precisley Marginalia Education Portal interprets it in this way: Everything should be broken down and explained in the most simple way possible – without over simplifying and leaving out details. This ensures a broad perspective, nuances and approachability.

Lastly, Marginalia Education Portal is a community. This education portal is neither written by experts nor is is edited by experts. Marginalia should therefore be approached in the same way that one would approach Wikipedia. 

Marignalia is written and edited by us as much as it is by you – therefore:
