The ABO Blood Group System
Antigenes are what the immune system uses to know what to "kill"
For example if you have the antigene A you produce the antibody B
If you have the antigene AB you do not produce any antibodies
You can therefor receive any blood type
If you have the antigene O you produce the antibodies B and A
There are three alleles:
I^a
I^b
i
I^a and I^b er dominant
I^a + I^a = A
I^a + I^b = AB (codominant)
i + i = O
I^a + i = A
There are some genes that code for the blood types: I^a, I^b and i:
A codes for A
B codes for B
i does not code for any particular
Rhesus
If Rhesus (Rh) is present you are Rhesus positive: R^+
Dominant
If Rhesus (Rh) is not present you are Rhesus negative: R^-
Recessive
